Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

01 Feb 2023Review of Slow Way route Paibar one (Paisley to Barrhead)
I walked this route in reverse (that is from Barrhead to Paisley) on a very wet and windy day in January 2023. Thankfully it follows good paths all the way, although the more exposed sections were tough going into the wind. I know this area well, and was a little disappointed to find that the route omits a number of potential short-cuts (e.g. Stoney Brae) and diversions through green spaces (e.g. Carlibar Park / Levern Walkway in Barrhead and Saucel Hill / White Cart Walkway in Paisley). Instead it sticks more or less to the vehicular route all the way, except for a short stretch along the footpath beside Thornley Dam. However, the route as it stands is simple, direct and accurate, and therefore highly suitable as an efficient way of travelling between the two town centres.
