Description
Know a better way to get from Paddock Wood to Marden? Well not sure about that but I'll give it a go. Not an area I know or a route I have walked. The route is a desk job using OS maps and Google Street View.
I do hope that the Padmar-1 can be resolved by a claim for the track across the airstrip, this was not a wartime field and hence unlikely to have had an emergency closure. This route does show on early Ordnance Survey maps.
This temporary alternative tries to avoid use of the B class roads in the area. None of the roads in the countryside have pavements and the roads are narrow, with minimal verge, but there is little opportunity of avoiding these. The longest stretch of road Yew Tree Green Road to Castle Hill. Here is or was! the Castle Inn which was for sale on Google in 2021 so don't get too excited.
It would appear that the River Teise has always been a barrier to travel
