Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

20 Jun 2023A short route, but a zigzag across the countryside.
Starting in Ormskirk, we use paved roads with crossings to get to Ruff Lane. A quiet paved road, once past the houses and university, it becomes more rural. The single pavement crosses over once or twice, but we're soon onto a footpath through fields and past houses.
Meeting the road, paved, we turn at the next junction and join the next footpath. Walking along an old boundary, it can beva fight through long grass and ferns, but we're eventually gifted with a broad and easy walk across fields using greentracks and farm tracks.
At the end, we do have a section of unpaved road. Whilst not busy, it isn't quiet, so please take care. After a third of a mile, we're back into fields, before ending on the main road near Stanley Gate, a big pub on a busy crossroads.
A good mostly rural walk, but rural only. And those wishing to avoid the unpaved section should continue along Ormskirk Road from Scarth Hill; it's paved all the way to Stanley Gate.
