Description
My route is very similar to Oakcol one -however this new route gives a more direct exit from Oakham and then after about 3 miles it avoids walking 1.5 miles on a road without a pavement by continuing to use footpaths

27 Mar 2024 (edited 28 Mar 2024)I walked most of this route from Oakham to Colsterworth, with a couple of minor changes at Whitwell (I don't see the point of leaving the cycle track before the car park as this misses a cafe and toilets), South Witham and North Witham (in both cases I used slightly easier routes). The design of this route is mostly good, definitely better and safer than OakCol one, but the GPX plotting is wayward in places and potentially confusing, and it uses a path that does not exist north east of North Witham, so I have submitted a new version (OakCol three) and written a longer review with pictures there. The Viking Way part of this route is excellent.
