Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

11 Dec 2024 (edited 12 Dec 2024)Walked from Hykeham to Navenby. An enjoyable walk, mostly on well marked paths and pavements, but the GPX plotting between Boothby Graffoe and Navenby lets it down a little, and I have submitted a fixed version (NorNav two) that is easier to follow and has a couple of minor changes. I have posted a more detailed review with pictures on the new route.
A few comments on the specific issues with this version.
Firstly I agree with the first reviewer that the out and back detour down the road in Harmston looks like a mistake, but I am pretty sure that the route designer chose this deliberately in order to visit the Thorold Arms pub (which is actually a little further round the corner and is still not visible from the turning point). So it is pointless unless the pub is open, so check opening times, as this is the only refreshment option in the middle part of the walk.
Secondly the path between Blacksmith Lane and Grantham Road in Boothby Graffoe is little used and has a couple of decaying stiles - it is easier to use the Viking Way here. More seriously, the shortcut right of way from Main Street down to the Viking Way path is no longer available on the ground (no footpath signs, the top end is blocked by a locked gate and the bottom end is not obvious at all). Instead, stay on the road a little further and follow the Viking Way sign left down the lane and into the fields.
The GPX file is correct that the official right of way includes a small detour through the wood, but there is no sign on the ground of anyone having trodden it for years, and the Viking Way path takes the direct line along the top of the fields.
On the approach to Navenby, the GPX file suggests that you can join a residential lane just north of North Lane - this does not work either but the footpath parallel to it is obvious and well marked, ending down a few easy angled steps.

12 Mar 2023Very nice route, and accurately plotted. I ran from South to North. Good views and easy to find paths, some mud.
There is a 200m out and back mistakenly in the route in Harmston, this could be cleared up from the gpx.
