Note that although this route has previously been flagged for accuracy it is a false alarm!! I had no problems with this route at all, it’s really excellent all round.
Walked Penzance to Newlyn. My walk coincided (not entirely coincidentally) with St Piran’s day festivities, highlight being the Furry Dance which was performed along the route through central Penzance.

I enjoyed walking the Penzance streets, some quirky shops, twists and turns, and several good footpaths. Went past the local football ground with a splendid art deco entrance.
The back streets eventually merge into the sea wall walk at Wherrytown (toilets here). The sea shusshes in on pebbles, there are benches, and it’s very restful. Newlyn Art Gallery is also here.
Newlyn streets are a bit mean with their pavements but apart from that no quibbles.
Had a slap-up fish lunch at the Mackerel Sky cafe to celebrate.

No flights of steps, some off/on kerbs and narrow pavements.
Toilets at Penzance meeting point by the tourist information booth.

An interesting route from the urban bustle of Penzance town centre, via small traffic free footpaths down to the seafront at Wherrytown. There is pleasent Georgian architecture around Penlee Park where you pass the excellent Penlee Museum and Art Gallery (the café is also worth a visit), before a bracing walk along the seafront to the centre of Newlyn with its pubs, shops and cafes (also passing the brilliant Newlyn Art Gallery).

This is a great route, don't worry about leaving that iconic view of St Michaels Mount - dive into the easy leafy paths and bustle of Penzance. The streets and roads may be crowded in the city centre so be mindful if you step off the (steep) path. Penzance has a practical and varied shopping centre.

This route is fine to walk but misses a lot of the promenade, walkers could follow the road along the seafront or cut down either Morrab Road or Alexandra Road to meet the promenade sooner.

There is a choice to follow the South West Coast Path from Newlyn to Penzance instead of diverting into the town centre. By diverting into the town the walker will miss the opportunity of walking along the whole of the promenade or at low tide walking part of the way on the beach.
