15 May 2023I have done this route 3 times now and can really enjoy it as I know where I am going now. Only 1 field had ploughed across the path so did feel bad about trampling through a crop but it was the only way really. Path well marked when you are on the route - have to use the arrow on the map to reassure myself I am on the right path. Great cafe in Long Bennington to stop for refreshments and toilet whilst deciding on the route to walk back.

01 Jun 2022I walked this in the reverse direction, starting at Long Bennington and finishing at Newark. The suburban route through Balderton and Newark is a little dispiriting, but the rest of the route is very pleasant apart from the clayfields around Claypole - very sticky when wet. In a couple of places the waymarked route follows field boundaries where the right of way goes straight across. One of these was just South of Dry Doddington. The last field approaching Claypole was planted with vegetables, with no discernible path line, so I may have done a little damage to the crop.
