28 Jan 2024A surprisingly pleasant short walk between these two close towns. Much of it alongside the racecourse the Hackney Marshes nature reserve and the River Lenon. Mostly a flat and traffic free route. Easy to follow.

25 Jun 2021This is a good route that most people will be able to follow. Great to see that it's graded 1Y because of the hard surfaces and no significant obstacles on the route. An alternative could be created that is more direct, but I doubt it would be as enjoyable.

07 May 2021Flat route, much off-road cycle track with safe road crossings. Passes over River Teign and through Hackney Marshes so good for bird watching. permissive route along side of racecourse - may be closed on odd race days (diversion maps would be posted). Food van at Town Quay. Shops and toilets at start and end of walk.

25 Apr 2021A large proportion of this route is across land owned by Newton Abbot race course. Signs posted along this section say that the race course reserve the right to close the path from 30 minutes before a race until 30 minutes after. I don't know if they actually do this often and it didn't affect our walk as there is currently no racing.
Apart from that a lovely short route across some interesting marshlands. Very easy and accessible to all. We did it with two small children. Nice views as you pass over the bridge across the marshes before arriving at the town quay. The quay itself is nothing special but has a good coffee / food van and picnic benches.
The GPS coordinates in the GPX file didn't seem to exactly match up with the path but we had no problem following the route - just follow the cycle path signs to Newton Abbot / Kingsteignton.
