Description
Since the initially proposed Navmet route has no public right of way for 1.5 miles through Green Man Wood, I have proposed a legal and safe alternative, but it is almost all on tarmac (quiet lanes with verges and also asphalt by-ways through Blankney Country Estate). There is no overlap with the previous route and is not a lot longer. It is easy to follow. Care needs to be taken crossing and walking for a couple of hundred yards along the fast busy A15 but there is a wide verge and good lines of sight. I did recce a longer route taking a field path south of the marked route out of Navenby but it adds just over a mile and is impenetrable where it crosses Gorse Lane. I was reluctant to recommend this route which involved a detour on private land, so this simple easy flat tarmac route is the one I propose. The two main features of the route are the British Chlorophyll Factory about half way and the attractive estate village of Blankney just before you get to Metheringham. 90% is cyclable/wheelable as it is tarmac but the remainder is field paths so you would need a suitable bike or to find your way round on lanes which would be possible. My photos are in order of walking and indicate points where you need to be alert in order not to lose your way and to give you a flavour of the route and it’s roads

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
