Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

10 May 2024Walked from Nant Ddu to Merthyr. This is a nice route that is let down by an inaccurate GPX. As per the previous review, there is a section which, although it is a public right of way, is very overgrown. I did manage to find a relatively easy way through, but I did have to climb over a barbed wire fence! It would be easier to follow the signs for the Taff trail through the forestry land. There are also issues with the GPX when approaching Merthyr; it doesn't show the actual path on the ground. I'll upload another route that will correct these problems.

20 Jun 2022I ran this route in the dark and found it very difficult to navigate. The route starts by climbing a gate with a 'No access private property' sign. But I couldn't see any other way and on my OS maps it was a public path. The route then passes through some farmers fields and over some fences. it then joins a nice easy to follow road however with about 4 miles to go the route headed into some very dense overgrown woodland and I had to find another path as I could no longer stay on the one suggested. Maybe in the light this route might be possible but I could see no way through. Lots of stinging nettles and brambles.
