Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

21 Oct 2024We walked from Red Lion House to Loddon on this route and had the following observations
1. Walking from Red Lion House to the A146 (Wood Farm) was safe along the road with few cars using the road (on a Monday).
2. The Chet Valley Vineyard is along this route and looks like an interesting place to explore.
3. Just off the route is Bergh Apton Church Plantation which is worth exploring.
4. The route from the Norwich Road (A146) south through Sisland Carr involves using a Private Roadway owned by Anglian Water. Signs are posted each end notifying that there is no access.
5. Sisland Carr is a beautiful woodland spot to walk through and for kids to play in.
6. The route south from Sisland Carr and then east into Loddon is easy road walking with an option to cross a field on a footpath or walk around quickly on the road.
7. The Mundham Road is quite busy and a hemmed in by steep verges. There is a need to keep a watch out for cars along here.
8. The roundabout where the Mundham Road meets the A146 Norwich Road has a clear and simple place to cross into Loddon.
9. The route into Loddon is simple and has good pavements and alternative options.

23 Sep 2021A lovely walk largely on paths through fields and very quiet lanes. One unavoidable short stretch along a minor road which was very busy requiring us to stop frequently.

22 Sep 2021Easy Countryside walking with a high proportion on paths through typical Norfolk landscape. The only downside is a few hundred yards of walk on a very narrow lane toward Mulbarton. This section is unpleasant though not particularly dangerous as traffic is slow moving.

29 Apr 2021 (edited 27 Jun 2023)Mostly a pleasant combination of footpaths, bridleways and fairly quiet country lanes. However, Stoke Lane from the A140 to Stoke Mill is a rat run with too many cars driving quickly, Wash Lane from Poringland to Alpington is deeply rutted and Anglia Water have signs up at Wood Farm denying access from the A146 to Sisland Carr ( the gate was open but query whether that would be the case at the weekend?).
