Description
The basic route is fine but in order to cross the A217 dual carriageway it's better to use Willow Walk and the rear entrance to Tesco's car park to go straight to the pedestrian lights opposite Stayton Road. Also there's no need to divert down the footpath from Oldfields Road but to use Stayton Road to get to Pylbrook Road. On reaching West Street, it's easier to turn left instead of diverting round St. Nicholas churchyard, cross by the pedestrian lights at the back of Boots and turn left down St. Nicholas Road to get to Sutton High Street

07 Feb 2024Walked Sutton to Motspur Park. It’s a decent urban route, easy to follow. There’s a lot of off road footpath/cycleway, and it’s direct too.
Shortly before Motspur Park was a large livery stable with merry children having riding lessons, very enjoyable!
My one criticism would be that the route could stick a bit further with the pleasant pedestrianised high street in Sutton. Apart from that no grumbles!
Not a long route and several refreshment opportunities. Some paths puddly with a little mud, but no serious wet foot difficulties.

29 May 2022Nice walk mainly streets and paths beside Pyl Brook, forming a sort of linear park. Two A roads to cross but crossings for both. Interesting bits - gas holders near Motspur Park, ponds at The Hamptons just off the path, a long wall of graffiti (the path here is called pig farm alley on some maps), the brook, and a road named for it - just here the water disappears from sight but can be heard on the path beyond the road.

On reaching West Street, it's easier to turn left instead of diverting round St. Nicholas churchyard, cross by the pedestrian lights at the back of Boots and turn left down St. Nicholas Road to get to Sutton High Street. Mainly paved. Short (possibly) muddy section from London Road to Tesco.
