18 Nov 2023I walked from Liverpool Street to Monument.
On exiting the station it is a little difficult to orientate yourself and find the node at the correct exit. But from there it is a quick, easy and very pleasant walk through interesting quiet back streets to the Monument which you can see over the rooftops before you arrive.
I used the subway (with steps) to cross a busy junction near Monument, but it can be crossed at road level.

06 May 2022Totally agree with the other reviewers. This route is awesome. A lovely tour of central London's intimate streets. An unabashed five star route. Excellent.

10 Apr 2022Direct and easy to follow along quieter city streets, this route won't take more than 15 minutes unless you get wildly distracted (which is easy).
Some of the pavements are narrow, and it's probably inevitable that at least one section will be blocked off for works somewhere along the way: that's London; the streets may be old, but every generation wants new buildings, higher and deeper.
In one or two places a dropped kerb is missing at a road crossing point, so if this matters then check before crossing that there is access at the other side.
I liked that it is so direct, but it is also tempting to launch off down alleyways and interesting side streets, and to check out the churches and pubs. Every square inch of the square mile is bursting with stories.
Recommend.

19 Feb 2022A pretty short section through "The City". It was a little hard to navigate with GPS due to the tall buildings so I didn't *quite* manage to do the exact route. It's paved all the way, although there is quite a lot of construction going on, which makes it sometimes hard to find dropped kerbs.

17 Sep 2021This is a short city-centre route along smaller streets, which provide much of the charm. Some of the roads (Finch Lane, Nicholas Lane) are very narrow, and consequently have narrow pavements, and might prove difficult for wheelchair users. Parallel streets (Royal Exchange Alley, Abchurch Lane) provide easier access: while I considered uploading an alternate route, I thought these were small enough changes not to warrant adding one.
There is currently (Sept 2021) building work at the junction of King William Street and Gracechurch Street. The underpass through Monument Station is one way to negotiate this junction: the other, which has dropped kerbs all the way, is by crossing Gracechurch Street and Eastcheap. The other way (crossing King William Street and Cannon Street) lacks a dropped kerb at King William Street - though of course the current building work may change that.
