Description
From the starting point in Meltham, cross Holmfirth Road, turn R, then L into Greenfield Road before the church, follow this round to Mill Moor road. Turn L and walk up Mill Moor Road until it crosses New Bridge Road and becomes unmetalled. It is now Brow Grains Road. Follow this up and through a gate. Bear R along an obvious path, cross Muddy Brook by large stepping stones, continue straight on up the track past the pumping station on the left. Turn R at the T junction and continue downhill. Turn L through a gate immediately before a gate across the track. Follow the track uphill and go through a gate onto Deer Hill Road. Turn L then after a few metres, turn R and follow a track across 2 fields to a stepped stile over a wall. A water treatment works is immediately ahead, bear L along a path by the fencing, with Deer Hill Reservoir embankment ahead. Continue in the same line as the path and straight up the embankment. Turn R and follow the embankment road around to the shooting club. Pass this on the left and through a gate onto National Trust land. You are now walking along Deer Hill conduit. Pass through 2 gates in short succession marking National Trust boundaries. Shortly after the second, bear R on an obvious path downhill towards a house. Pass through a gate and onto the house driveway. Continuing downhill and bear R downhill leaving farm buildings to the R, then round a house in front and down a path to meet Binn Lane through a gate. Turn R. Wessenden Road joins from the L, continue walking downhill on Binn Road, past houses then mills on the L. At a roundabout go straight ahead onto Fall Lane, under the A62, Manchester Road. Continue to the T junction of Town Gate and Church Lane. Bear R with the church to your L. Cross the River Colne to meet the T junction of Station Road. Turn L and walk uphill to see the Railway station in front of you
