Description
This route heads east along Maidenhead High Street until it meets Bridge Road (The A4) heading east, over the River Thames where it becomes the Bath Road. On reaching Berry Hill junction, head south along Amerden Lane until you reach the Jubilee River path heading east. You follow the Jubilee River path for much of the remainder of the route until heading North East up the Windsor Road into Slough towards the end point at Slough Rail Station. This route offers a more scenic and more off-road alternative to simply walking along the A4 from Maidenhead to Slough. This route does pass under the M4 alongside the river. When the river water is particularly high, this section of the route will be impassable, but as the river serves as a flood relief channel, this should be infrequent

27 Mar 2023Maidenhead to Slough 2 (Maislo 2) review.
A Slow Way following the course of the artificial Jubilee River, albeit bookended by urban walks.
There’s a long walk through Maidenhead, which rather dragged, to finally join the Jubilee River Way.
The riverside route is mostly along a well-maintained cycle route. It passes artificially constructed wildlife habitats and seating at convenient intervals.
The Slow Way leaves the river at the Windsor Road. It is then a direct urban walk north into Slough, to end at the railway station.

04 Nov 2022I walked from Slough to Maidstone.
A good walking route (mostly) along a cycle path therefore mostly off road except for the beginning and end.
Down a busy main road from Slough station (although you could follow the cycle path signs down quieter streets and still end up on the Jubilee Rive Way) to the cycle path alongside the Jubilee river. At the Slough end glimpses of the river are rare through the dense riverside hedging, but the compacted gravel path is generally easy going, and even after recent torrential rain there was little mud and the puddles were shallow, this path is good for wheels, flat without gradients, but not always smooth. Near Slough the M4 is loud but soon fades, but never out of earshot, the river becomes more visible in the second half and is beautiful.
Close to Dorney near footbridges are the Dorney Wetlands, there are hides to watch the river wildlife, paths, picnic tables, and nature boardwalks along the river margins. This is about half way and if you wanted to make a day of a shortish walk then you could do worse than roam around this beautiful area for a while.
The river gets prettier as you approach Maidenhead but you have to leave the Jubilee River to join the Bath Road to Cross another river, The Thames. The road is not nice but this section is short and the town centre is close, shops, cafes, pubs, and a market were on offer. The end is by the library, with frequent exhibitions. The fountain on this day had detergent added, it looked like a bubble bath (it was a sunny day but the wind had an edge to it otherwise I'd have dunked my feet!)
A really nice walk, good for wheels, with the caveat that there is a sign saying that the path under the M4 can flood.

05 Nov 2022P.S. The railway station is 500/600m from the town centre start/finish point.

14 Apr 2022Easy to follow and easy walking along the Jubilee River. Inevitably quite a lot of town walking at either end. It was a national cycle route so the path was accessible.

03 Feb 2022I walked this route from Slough to Maidenhead. Apart from a bit of pavement walking on both ends, the path is gorgeous. The river is more windy and vegetated and interesting to walk along than a canal towpath by far, and I really appreciated that. It’s still straightforward to follow and you’re almost always in sight of water, so it really was quite pleasant and lovely walking.
Both end stretches are quite noisy and traffic-heavy, so I’ve dinged the route a star accordingly. The river segment, though, was a lovely change of pace from typical canal-ish slow ways routes!.

04 Sep 2021Beautiful route along the canal. On a fine day, this can be an absolute delight. It is a fair bit of walking though, so my recommendation would be start early.

05 Jun 2021If you're going to walk from Maidenhead to Slough, I think this is the way to do it, along the Jubilee River. It's a modern river (1990's) so it's not a mature walk by any means, but it's a nice alternative to the main road through Slough Trading Estate. The path under the motorway could be flooded when the river is at a high level.
