Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

04 Sep 2024Very similar to Lydoke(2) but this route has a walking option along paths at the Okehampton end. Rather than taking the shared Granite Way walking/cycling route. This way goes through the Old Town Nature reserve and across Okehampton golf course - a route that is clearly marked. I walking from Okehampton, after leaving the golf course and entering a field of pasture, care is needed after about 200 metres of following the field boundary on your right, look for a large to your left (to the south) this leads you on to the Granite way. In the opposite direction it is easier to follow as you go through this large head down across the field and turn right along the field edge onto the golf course. There are a couple of places where it is possible to walk a short distance off the cycle route - but mostly this is a shared route. There is an option of leaving the route at Sourton where there is a nice picnic spot, a fine church and a very interesting pub -the Highwayman. The route then returns back the same way to the Granite way.
