Description
This route is an alternative to Lonsla Route 1, which addresses some of the issues raised in the first survey and review. This route bypasses the village of Newton, which is only a couple of miles from Slaidburn, and instead takes in Dunsop Bridge and Chipping, which are settlements with better facilities and better-located along the route. This route also avoids some of the rougher agricultural land and, specifically, the section between Doeford Bridge and Gibbon Bridge on the original route, which include difficult obstacles (overgrown vegetation and potentially difficult stream crossing). This route includes stepping stones across the River Hodder at the Inn at Whitewell, however, these are engineered, substantial and almost always passable. The route is marginally longer than the original

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.
