Nick Blomberg

06 Jan 2023 (edited 17 Jan 2023) Winter

The initial section of this route passes through a deprived area of Llanelli. The terraced streets are strewn with litter, and the first 30 minutes of the route are not pleasant. This can be avoided by turning right from the train station, and following New Dock Road to Lidl. Follow left from the roundabout to re-join the route at Morfa. Alternatively, check out the 'Llalou two' route for a slightly longer, more scenic alternative.

From Morfa, a newly surfaced path will take you onto Sustrans cycle route 4. Traffic noise is fairly constant until you reach the WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre. There are some picnic opportunities and benches as you get closer to the estuary. This section is quite exposed during adverse weather, and some sections are subject to flooding during a high tide.

The route re-joins the road at Bynea, and the rest of the route continues along the main road into Lougher.
