Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

03 Oct 2022March 2022. Direction: Barry to Llantwit Major.
Great coastal walk along the cliff tops for most of the way, but also a lower level stretch after the power station. This route also takes in Porthkerry Park, which gives a nice contrast to the coastal sections. This stretch includes some of the Wales Heritage Coast, with its jurassic fossils and fascinating geology. A nice detour for a break is the Blue Anchor pub in East Aberthaw.

30 Jun 2022I started this route from Llantwit to Barry, this is a beautiful route with views along the coast....no difficulties, going through two caravan parks and four quiet beaches, then into Porthkerry Park which is stunning.
This route has access to toilets and a couple of cafes on route. Highly recommended.

04 Sep 2021I did this walk in 2 sections: Rhoose to Barry and Rhoose to Llantwit Major. The coast path is about 5 mins walk from Rhoose train station.
Both sections are well-marked and easy to navigate with great views of the Bristol Channel. If you have time to spare, I recommend a small extension via Llantwit Major beach.
