25 Mar 2022The route isn't quite accurate through the parks, and the section where it leaves London Road is affected by local building works, the chosen route now obliterated.
I've provided an alternative, LIVWAL Two.

28 Nov 2021I walked from Walton to Liverpool (Lime Street Station)
I agree with Jo G the previous reviewer, Mostly streets but 2 lovely parks.
From St Mary's Church through residential streets to Goodison Park and up through Stanley Park (a sign said it might be closed at night, but there is a parallel road). More residential roads (I'd cut through- greener and quieter- see picture) before Everton Park (the Brow). Wonderful views over the City and the Mersey, Wales on a good day. If walking South you can spot your destination 2km away. Dropping down off the Brow through busy back streets to the station where lots of re-development is going on.
A lovely walk with lots of interest.

02 May 2021This route takes you from Walton on the outskirts of the city to Liverpool city centre, which might not sound very exciting - but despite the reputation of the north of the city for being less green than the southern suburbs, the route manages to take in two lovely parks. On leaving Walton (St Mary's Church and its pretty churchyard) you head through mostly quiet side streets towards Goodison Park, the home of Everton Football Club. You join Stanley Park near the main gates of the club, passing a lovely ornamental lake. If you fancy a detour to visit Everton's rivals, Liverpool FC, their Anfield stadium is on the other side of the park. The route then passes the gates for the Isla Gladstone Conservatory, a magnificent Victorian glasshouse which after many years of disrepair is now a popular venue for weddings and other smart events. There is a cafe (Kemp's bistro) in the lower level of the conservatory (opening times vary). Leaving the park opposite Stanley Park Church onto Anfield Road there is an uphill section of road walking taking you to Everton Park - the view from the top as you enter the park is spectacular, right across the Mersey towards the Welsh hills. In high summer there are large areas of wildflower meadows here - looking a bit bare when I visited in early May. Exiting the park by Prince Rupert's tower (a small 18th century lock up!) follow the route downhill towards the city centre. I found the route finding tricky at this point - there is a major dual carriageway (Islington) and it's not clear where the route actually goes. - I relied on my local knowledge but there are also road signs towards the station too. Indeed along the route there are several helpful signs so it's hard to get too lost.
