Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

09 Sep 20244 Sept 2024 - Once by the river this is a lovely route, especially the section through St. Katharine's Docks and Wapping/Limehouse. For those in wheelchairs, note that in Wapping there's some old metal bollards as part of the kerb (see pics). These narrow or completely block access such that you'd need to go round them (onto a cobbled street in one section). There's also a few gated entrances to the Thames Path in this section which may feel a bit narrow.
On approaching Canary Wharf (coming from Tower Bridge) there's a short section of the path that is closed for building works but the diversion is signed and has ramped access.

17 Jul 2024Myself and a group of colleagues walked this route. The route follows the Thames Path along the river and is easy to follow.
Mostly flat but there are a couple of sections with steps.
There were also a couple of short detours off the path due building work, notably at King Edward Memorial Park.
I would recommend this route.

17 Jan 2023Well it works! But it is an annoying route! I think there must be a better way, there is certainly a more direct way. Sadly the Thames Path is very sporadic with diversions in place at Canary Wharf as a bridge is out, and Limehouse where there is a sink hole. There are good transport links at both ends and lots of cafés - the Urban Baristas in Wapping is a great stop. We walked this route in the opposite direction. The final part is fine; the Thames side of the Tower of London and then up past the Monument (you can climb to the top for a small fee) on to Liverpool Street. Overall, only 2 stars because the Thames Path is so frustrating to follow. Amazing views of an amazing city though!.

16 Jan 2023This route is OK, it weaves on and off the Thames path due to various sections being temporarily closed off. There are stairs on the route. It probably isn't the most direct route between the two places but this means there are extra stretches along the river.

10 Mar 2022This is basically the same route as MonCan1 but with an extra stretch from Liverpool Street to Monument and passing through south Wapping rather than on the northside. It is worth checking out the reviews of that route for more opinions.
As it stands the route to Monument is down very busy streets. I would suggest an alternative down St Mary Axe - Lime Street - Philpott Lane meeting MonCan on Eastcheap or one even further east through Billiter Street - Mark Lane , although I haven't checked the accessibility of either option.
