30 Apr 2021The start of this route is a victim of the automation process when the starting points were changed. As a consequence the route as far as Minster Pool takes you in the wrong direction to start with and takes you up Upper John Street, a busy road, frequently full of cars, lorries and buses with a narrow pavement. When this becomes Bird Street, an access only road (for motor vehicles) things become much more pleasant and in the opposite direction this could be a useful street for pubs, cafes, a hotel and even a cocktail bar. You then go past Minster Pool where you get some closer views of the Cathedral. The route from there is fine until you get to the Post Office in Fradley the route was supposed to go up a footpath near there but I discovered that the footpath is overgrown and disused. I diverted via a residential street. The rest of the route is clear, flat and quiet, delivering you to the west end of Alrewas which has a particularly quaint meeting spot. I'd recommend Licalr 2 over this.
