Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

  1. Complete the survey training.

A very long route with no facilities along the way. Much of the route is on lanes but there are no pavements and the sides of roads drop in many places. The lanes are also surprisingly busy with national speed limit applying despite their width and many bends. At SX36857 80296 it crosses the Tamar river at Greystone Bridge which has no pavement and is traffic light controlled for vehicles. There are small refuges for pedestrians caught on the bridge when traffic passing - unlikely to be suitable for wheelchairs. The next nearest crossing point is SX40095 74735 which would involve another long diversion. At the Greystone Bridge the route turns immediately left to pick up a little used footpath. I would describe the terrain of this path as 4/5 involving crossing a rocky stream base and lots of tree routes. Thereafter it turns onto narrow country lanes and wherever possible attempts to make use of available footpaths most of which are going through farmland and are not particularly well maintained or sign-posted. This also results in a lot of up and down hillsides to follow the routes. I am able bodied, and a regular walker with the ramblers, but I would not attempt this route in its entirety myself.
