19 Jun 2022I walked this from Princess Risborough to Lane End on a moderately warm slightly sunny day, after not much precipitation in the last few weeks.
It starts in the small town of Princess Risborough, and after a while walking through the down you'll end up walking through some rather overgrown part. There are two level crossings (with 85mph trains) to negotiate. There are quite a few hills, but also many flat sections. The hills are really quite bursts, and there are some lovely views from the tops. One of the strangest colours were the fields of purple flowers. I encountered a green woodpecker fledgling which was hopping around on the ground, with red kites flying overhead. Most paths were easy to walk on, but with the propensity of getting very muddy, as they were narrow and in between hedges/fences. There was a particularly half a mile section where it was very unwise to have chosen to worn shorts. So many nettles and brambles that my legs look rubbish now (and itch). There was some walking on streets without pavement, but they were not busy. Except going up Chipps Hill south of the A40. Without that stretch, I might have given this walk 5 stars.

09 Jun 2022This walk has longer flatter segments, mixed in with shorter hilly sections (which make for spectacular views of the Chilterns). If you check on the map, you'll see that significant sections are on-road, but the majority of those are quiet, and the ones that are slightly busier (in the urban areas) almost always have pavements - the notable exception being that just south of the A40. Don't try it with wheels, though - stiles, kissing gates and some very narrow sections including the part that coincides with the Chiltern Way make that impractical.
