Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

Hiking Historian
17 Jun 2023On the surface, an okay route, although it is mostly a long street slog, but the beginning has an inexplicable wobble.
From Kirkby, for some reason it crosses the road and uses the footpaths that run alongside the river Alt and the main road. But it makes no sense, especially as the route soon recrosses the road, and at a place with no crossing.
Once away from the main road, the route zig-zags through residential streets, most with high kerbs and no ramps. Once over the A-road crossroads, a long and unattractive walk through an industrial estate into Knowsley village, and then a long rural road along the side of the Knowsley estate. Over the M57, it becomes more residential, and, past the roundabouts and crossings of Junction Two, it's uphill into Prescot.
Although it works, it's not very appealing, and the odd routefinding at the very beginning makes KIRPRE Two much more appealing.
