Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

19 May 2022Departing the Village to the East along side the A584 is not the prettiest start but once you are over the stile its is very picturesque. All the route is on public rights of way, and signposted quite well. Care should be taken when crossing the A584 and the A583. Lots of stiles make this route unsuitable for any wheeled transport but the path itself is fairly even and does not have very much in the way of steep assents or descents. A railway foot bridge, a small foot bridge over a stream, kissing gates and stiles make it an interesting walk. Wildlife is abundant and the fields are home to cattle, sheep, fowl and crops so care with your dog will be appreciated. The right of way near the windmill is through the owners garden, signposted and fairly obvious it is not quite as the map and goes between the windmill and the neighboring house not to the left of the windmill. Walking on the roadside pavement through Treales is only a short stretch and its quite a pretty village. The Mowbreck road is a bridleway and can be accessed by wheeled transport of an all terrain variety. Last, down hill, stretch to Kirkham can be muddy but the path is obvious. It's a circuitous but pretty and very rural route.
