A more direct version of the route, using quiet residential streets to access the footpath to the front from Kinmel Bay. Much like version 2, the thoroughly rewarding boardwalk through Horton's Nose is ıncluded. The route stays on the seafront but follows the route I took to access it from Rhyl town centre

15 Feb 2026A short but sweet walk. I left Rhyl following version 1 up the high street and having reached the clock tower, made my way through the funfair to the seafront. Not long into the walk there's the option of a trip to the shops at the Cei Marina. A brief section of pavement then leads to a bridge over the River Clwyd. Beyond that I chose to follow version 2's walk through Horton's Nose. Coastal defences are being strengthened and the walk feels a little enclosed, although there is a view over the sea wall. I was about to rejoin the Coastal Trail on my next Slow Way so figured I'd follow the footpath (as used by version 2) and stumbled upon a much more direct route to the Kinmel Bay meeting point at the bus stop by the social club. At just over 3km it's on the short side but has coast, history, a nature reserve, shops and transport. A super Slow Way.
