Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

07 Aug 2021This is a route that works ok, it will get you from Kingston Vale to Kingston without much mishap, but I would prefer if it was on footpath rather than the road in Richmond Park. Yes it's possible to walk along the verges, but the overall experience is imo less pleasant by a fair margin.
The route is sufficiently accurately drawn as to pose no real hazards, although the road crossing by Kingston station could be more precise - a safe pedestrian crossing is near enough to be obvious.
The passage through the Kingston suburbs is pleasant, and passes a couple of pubs and a fish and chip shop.
I've created an alternative (Kinkin Two) which uses the Tamsin Trail (a shared cycle and pedestrian path which has a good surface) rather than the asphalt motor road through the park.
Note that Richmond Park is (usually) open, but unlit, at night, so this route won't suit everyone after dark.

04 Jul 2021Pleasant route. Follows quiet streets from Kingston Station to Richmond Park. In the park the route follows the road to Kingston Vale. I suggest staying left off the road early on (no verges or pavements), and instead going up the adjacent hill using a stepped footpath some 10's of metres to the left. Lovely grassy plateau at the top with road traffic visible to the right. Later on its again safe and pleasant to walk the grass verges at the roadside. Little side-visit to Isabella Plantation is an optional extra, and there are free public loos there.
