Description

Having read the other reviews this was plotted to move a lot off the main roads. There is still a little stretch along the road but it is significantly reduced. Passes by and through Raffley woods, Grimston warren and Roydon common

Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

I also plotted this route but I walked it to check before loading it given the reviews for Kingri One. I really enjoyed this and would do again. Took a bus between Grimston and Kings Lynn then walked back. Noted that Kings Lynn is very well served by public transport but Grimston has more limited service. Plenty of facilities in Kings Lynn and a pub at the end. There are options just off route in a couple of places.

Leaving Kings Lynn felt like you got out of the town feel pretty quickly along the river path. Lots of green spaces and trees. It was newly mown but even so given the very green middle I would say the paths were well used. There were a few road crossings but mostly tracked by the stream/river. When the path meets the A148 there was a little bit along the busier stretch but then cuts through housing and finds it's way back to the river and along. Mixed path surfaces. Connects to the corner of the woodland trust Reffley wood and then down a tarmacked path to the A149. Saturday afternoon late august it took us a while to cross this busy road. Traffic was almost non stop and there is no crossing or bridge or alternative. It is only two lanes here and no central partition. On the other side though it was quickly away from it all and down broad tracks after a stretch of tarmac. Lovely tree lined walk and patchy woodland. Then late august there was a sea of purple flowering heather on Grimston warren. The path/track became quite sandy and beachy in places through the middle of the heath area. Some stretches by the edge of Roydon common that could become muddy in winter I think but there were small higher paths to each side to help navigate it. Leaving the track came to a tarmac quiet road ( bit of traffic for horses) and then into Potts Row. We cut across the corner park area to the footpath but you could walk round. From here it was nearly a straight line and easy to navigate to Grimston. Some narrow paths round some housing but then onto field edge paths. All well worn until the last stretch into Grimston where the field had been plowed/resown recently but it was signposted. Lovely pleasant route.
