24 Jan 2023I started in Kimberley and enjoyed this walk to Arnold through countryside and parks. It fulfills many of the Slow Way requirements while failing on others. I feel there is still a shorter compromise for this route.

14 Aug 2022Walked from Arnold to Kimberley, so in reverse. Mostly pleasant and straightforward, but there are steps on the east side of the M1 bridge and some of the unsurfaced paths are quite rough and narrow, so it is not buggy/wheelchair friendly.
A couple of minor quibbles - the GPX file has a lot of little random variations (was it generated by a GPS tracker?), and some of these almost threw me, for example deviating off the unsurfaced road north-east of Gaunts Hill. The route through Bestwood Country Park was new to me and quite entertaining, but the final descent/ascent on the west side is quite steep.
Overall a good route which deserves a snail mark.

07 May 2022I walked this route from Kimberley. It begins along the route of the former Great Northern Railway. After it crosses the M1 it follows footpaths towards and then across Bulwell Hall Park. It continues on footpaths to reach safe crossings of the roads, tramline, railway and river in the Leen Valley at Moorbridge. From the edge of Bestwood Village, it briefly follows the old railway before entering Bestwood Country Park and gently climbing across grassland and through woodland to a summit near Bestwood Lodge. It uses footpaths across farmland to reach Redhill and then alongside quiet roads to Arnold.
This is a more scenic alternative to Kimarn2, and is shorter than Kimarn1.
