Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

From Coventry to Kenilworth.
Agree with previous comments made about this route. It is a walking route but not ideal for cyclists and in its current form not wheelchair/pushchair friendly. The stile previously mentioned in an earlier review (but now repaired) precludes both as does the soft ground alongside the University cricket pitches between Gibbet Hill and Cryfield Grange Road. This could easily be avoided if after exiting the University Grounds you turn right along Gibbet Hill Road and then left at the island onto Leighfield road to join up with KenCov2 at the start of the link road to the Greenway.
Unfortunately HS2 works still blight the section of the walk after crossing Cryfield Grange Road with a detour still in place from the original (shorter) route.

21 Aug 2022I walked this route north from Kenilworth. On the whole it's a good route, taking an interesting path through Gibbet Hill. Unfortunately though, HS2 has blighted the route and forced a diversion from the mapped route. From what I can gather, the temporary diversion will be in place until at least 2024, when a new permanent diversion will apparently be laid.
The other reasons it doesn't get more stars is that in my opinion the route could be improved. A previous review has highlighted some improvements, but I also believe the off-road path through Stivichall Common could be utilised instead of the footpath around the junction of Earlsdon Ave & Kenilworth Road, as well as a path which avoids the road walking along The Shrubberies entirely. I feel a Kencov Three coming on...
Negatives aside, it is a good route utilising a bit of the Kenilworth Greenway on the old disused rail line to Berkswell and a good bit of Gibbet Hill Wood. It has a fair few gates/cattle grids and just one tricky fence leaving the field at Gibbet Hill Road, which appears to have a broken stile making you climb the gate instead. The path next to the cricket ground in Gibbet Hill has netting to separate errant cricket balls from the path on match days.

16 May 2021-the intial section of the Kenilworth Road should drop off the pavement on the left (walking out of Coventry) and onto the footpath through the woods between the road and the Memorial Park.
-After crossing the a45, there is a footpath through the woods on the right side of the road (heading out of Coventry). This is between the pavement and the houses.
