Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

04 Jun 2023Wonderful little route mostly following the Elham Valley Way. Easy to start/finish at Sandling Station if required, although you would be missing out on the charming seaside town of Hythe. Steep climb out of Saltwood up to Tolsford Hill but well worth it for the views.

23 May 2023Brilliant walk. Fascinating to cross both the M20 and the Eurotunnel; loved the American gardens and strange mobile tower overlooking views of Dungeness and Romney Marsh. Two big hills: one to walk and one to look at, both quite enjoyable. Hythe was great, nicest suburban entry of all the SlowWays routes.
There were a couple of issues: a golf course (almost ruined the walk, fantastic bunkers but terrible path maintenance), although we loved the hills they could be less enjoyable to others.
