Description
Take's Lynn's Holang two and makes only minor tweaks to make it a perfectly lovely Slow Ways route!
This walk can be described as The Dickens Walk; Charles Dickens knew this part of London well and based many of his novels and characters from the area – from Our Mutual Friends and Little Dorrit to Oliver Twist.
Following Reviewer Henry’s recommendation, the walk takes you along the quieter parts of Holborn. Through Hatton Gardens and Wall, before taking you along Herbal Hill, Exmouth Market and Arlington Way.
Keep your head up – you will discover scores of Blue Plaques and histories, waiting to tell you their stories

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

19 Jun 2022I walked Holborn to Angel on a Sunday.
Unfortunately Grays Inn is not accessible ‘out of hours’, and the entrance to the courtyards and gardens was locked.
I’d say this route is for weekdays daytime only.
I may put up a revised version, which would give an accessible all hours off-the-main-roads option.

07 May 2022I walked this route from Holborn to Angel and really really enjoyed it.
I wouldn't really call myself a literary soul, so I can't necessarily speak to the Dickensian elements of it, but the walk itself is impressive and extremely lovely. Every time I thought the route couldn't surprise me with more, there was another lovely street, or cut-through, or pocket park, or historic building. This walk kept giving, and I was very impressed!
The area around Gray's Inn fields is accurately plotted, but I'm not 100% sold walkers are completely welcome, it definitely feels like a space where passers-by are at least discouraged. I think it's ok, and it definitely makes for a lovely bit of walking, but just something to keep your eye out for.
On the whole, a great route!.

08 May 2022I reccied Grays Inn for Holliv Two and decided to leave it out for the reason you give; it’s quite formal, and I was approached with a ‘can I help you?’ pretty fast when I wandered off piste from the designated walk-thru (which you’ve mapped accurately!) I’m still not sure if it’s accessible weekends/after hours, be a bonus if it is. (Also, there are a few steps at the entrance, and I was trying to get step free for Holliv)
