26 May 2022I feel able to criticise this route because I am that Slow Ways volunteer who plotted it. Since then the Hilton meeting point has been moved so it has an unnecessary loop to the revised meeting place a bus shelter. I didn't spot anywhere better but it's not ideal. The diversion off the cycle route into Etwall may be of use as there are services in the village and buses. The northern link to or from the cycle route crosses fields with stiles and cattle and some may find the road crossing dangerous with poor visibility. The footpath used at the south end of the cycle route also has a stile, a difficult gate and cattle. I offer Hilder-2 with minor changes but suggest a mix and match with Hilder-3 because the whole walk can be achieved without stiles or cattle and a choice of facilities and buses at either or both Etwall and Mickleover.
