Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

07 Apr 2024I walked this route last week following a period of wet weather. Parts of the route are currently very muddy and not very pleasant, particularly as you walk from Winchmore Hill to Coleshill.
Some of the route is quite hilly: as you walk up Totteridge Lane in High Wycombe and as you walk up through Kings Wood towards Tylers Green. The footpath through Kings Wood before you get to Tylers Green is quite uneven with stones sticking out.
Walking through Tylers Green was absolutely lovely and a real highlight of the walk. A beautiful scenic village with a couple of places to stop for refreshments.
The footpath you walk up towards the main road at Coleshill is very muddy, wet and slippery.
The plotted path down into Amersham does take you across the A413. I have attached photos of the route which takes you across the footbridge into Amersham. This route is no longer and much safer than the current plotted route. I have attached photos of it below. I strongly suggest that this route is replotted to use this option.
This is a lovely walk but I would not recommend it after an extended period of rain as it gets very wet and muddy. I have walked parts of this route numerous times during good weather and it is lovely with beautiful views across the countryside.

14 May 2021 (edited 27 Jun 2023)This route needs to be replotted and carefully revised. The worst part is crossing the A413 south of Old Amersham. The indicated route has us flying over the main road, but there is no footbridge there and the banks are too steep to climb down and back up. After that, heading towards Wycombe, the route becomes obscure, showing paths which do not exist on the ground. In the end, we had to make a detour to Tower Road to get back on the route.
After that the route is mostly good, following the Chiltern Way for part of the way.
Coffee in Amersham at various locations, and from the Village Shop by Tylers Green pond.
Pubs at Coleshill, Winchmore Hill and Tylers Green.

21 Jan 2024Hello Ian. I've uploaded a new version of the HigAme slow way, hopefully it avoids the problems you found when you walked the original.
