Description
This is a replacement for Hetmur one which has an error in the route just before entering Hetton Lyons Country Park, as explained by a grumpy man in a van before the route entered his yard! I have also taken the opportunty to divert the route via the lake in the park as it seems a shame to miss it

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

28 Jan 2025Starting at the bus station it's just a short walk before entering the Hetton Lyons Country Park. This has a lovely lake, complete with swans. The paths are well made. After this the path continues straight along an old railway track before turning left onto a country lane which goes through a farm. You then turn right through some woodland and along a field edge before entering the village of Murton.
There didn't seem much in the town by way of facilities but the Dalton Park Shopping Centre is at the edge of the village which has shops and refreshment opportunities and a adjacent supermarket. The buses from here seem quite frequent.
