Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

Strider
04 Jul 2022This is a delightful walk except for two issues.
1. Chequers Lane is a narrow busy lane with no pavement or verge, I felt very uncomfortable and at one point, scared.
2. Although still shown on the OS map the path by the canal opposite Apsley Station has been changed. There is new Housing and The Paper Mill pub on the South bank so the path is now on the North side. The route shown here cannot be walked.
I have created Hemrad Two which hopefully keeps all the good bits and removes the bad. To avoid Chequers Lane I've routed along High Elms Lane which has a path alongside the road. I've used the canal tow path to navigate all the way to Boxmore Common which also takes you closer to the town centre if you wanted to hop off there rather than the station.
