26 Aug 2023I cycled this route yesterday, which is cheating really. However it shows that the route is completely suitable for anybody on wheels end to end. It uses the Cuckoo Trail which is an old railway line repurposed. It is a tarmac path which goes through some lovely countryside. It is pretty straight and well sign-posted so it is virtually impossible to get lost. It is popular and used by walkers, dog walkers, small children, cyclists, scooters and runners.
Some interesting old railway architecture is still evident along the way. Hellingly is a beautiful village just off the route with a lovely church but no facilities. Horam is also just off the route which has shops and other refreshments. No gates or stiles. No livestock. Lots of dogs.

23 Jul 2023A really pleasant, accessible straightforward Slow Way, following well made Tarmac paths throughout.
Mostly follows the Cuckoo Trail shared walking/cycling route which does require some awareness of cyclists and is a bit hard on the feet by the end, but this route should be accessible in all weathers, all year round.
Care should be taken in Heathfield and Hailsham towns to follow the route, it doesn't follow the route signposted "Cuckoo Trail" in Heathfield but if you follow either those or the Slow Way you'll end up in the right place.
There is a toilet, cafe and shop in Horam, about a third of the way along the route if walking south.

20 Jul 2022Very easy to follow, well sign posted and flat. Paved the entire way so should be fairly accessible for all. Very pretty scenery.
Also good for those looking to walk from/to Hellingly or Horam.
