25 Jun 2023A lovely walk - especially as far as Damens station- and a real treat if the steam or diesel trains are running .
Option to travel part way by train ( the route is wheelchair friendly from Haworth to oakworth station so that might be an option - but need to check if wheelchair access on train )
Agree with Mary that it’s possible to avoid the very muddy / puddles on the track after damens station by turning left into nature trail which runs alongside.
Shame to have a long stretch on footpath alongside’main road into keighley but last part was ok alongside railway ( with more train sightings)
The route follows part of worth way and railway childrens walk .

09 Sep 2022The route leaves the bottom of the iconic cobbled street in Haworth through a park (which has public toilets that don’t open until 11am). There are plenty of nice views across the valley from much of the first half of this route. There are steps, kissing gates, stiles, and narrow, steep, stony footpaths on this route, but the first 60% of the route is an absolute delight on foot, with a variety of quiet roads, well-trodden footpaths, and one field crossing (with cows).
The route goes directly past three lovely little stations, and starts and ends quite near to two others on the Keighley and Worth Wally Railway, made famous as the filming location for The Railway Children. It would therefore be possible to combine the walk, or even a section of it, with a ride on a steam train.
The lane between Damens Station and the A629 can have some large puddles. One of these was right across the lane, and because I wasn’t wearing waterproof boots, I took a short, easy, close-by diversion, via cycle barriers at each end, on a footpath between the lane and the river through the woods.
I can see Howieland’s point about walking along Coney Lane into Keighley, but I was happy walking the footpath right around for an unusual approach to Keighley Station which passes the railway turntable. I didn’t find the route too litter-strewn or intimidating, but it was a little tricky to follow the navigation. It is accurately plotted, and is off-road, and it involves two short pedestrian tunnels under the railway, not the road bridge – I hope my photos help make this clear.
This was a varied and interesting route only spoiled a bit by the main road section.

09 Oct 2021A scenic route following part of the Worth Way. The route is mainly close to the River Worth and to the Worth Valley steam train track, so it might be good to choose a day that the steam trains are running. There is one section above Oakworth Station where the route does have to climb steeply up from the valley, but you are rewarded by some wonderful views.
The Keighley end of the route is much more urban including about a kilometer along a busy road, but the lower section of the River Worth parallel to the road is a welcome green oasis in the town.
I think most walkers would probably prefer to shorten the route by avoiding the section of Worth Way footpath between Coney Lane and the railway station. Much of this section feels quite industrial and enclosed between high walls and litter strewn. An alternative is to walk along Coney Lane and through the shopping centre to the Keighley start/finish point.
