17 Dec 2022This was my first Slow Ways walk on a snowy December afternoon. Unlike previous reviews, I went Hatfield to Potters Bar. Like previous reviews some of the turns and routes weren't totally obvious, but I found that as long as I used common sense I could easily get back on track. Nice distance to walk in an afternoon and it was nice that most of the route was footpaths away from the roads, and that it was only a few minutes by train to get back to the starting point when I was done. On the way I saw a fox, rabbits, grouse, and a robin.

13 Aug 2022I walked from Potters Bar to Hatfield.
Agree with Simon, previous reviewer.
From the back of the station a path takes you alongside the railway before ducking left down steps, through woods and fields to Waters End before the residential streets of Welham Green. The paths through the fields were barely visible through the harvested grain, a slightly dark green shadow through the straw. Picking up Cycle Route 12 to Hatfield takes you through a skein of parks, woods and alleys all the way to the station.
A lovely walk, difficult navigation in parts, but a nice variety of scenery. Steps, narrow rooty paths make it unsuitable for wheels.

26 Mar 2022An easy route, and not very muddy (for March), but be sure to pay attention to your GPS map as there are many ways to go astray. The route starts alongside the railway track from Potters Bar, before moving away past fields with horses and sheep. A walk through the village of Welham Green takes you past a delightful pub (Sibthorpe Arms) and then through lots of alleyways until you reach a cycle path that takes you to the edge of Hatfield. Lots of urban alleyways to negotiate before you arrive on another cycle way and on to Hatfield station.
I'd definitely walk this route again. Any main roads are paved and well lit. There are no issues of access but as I said earlier pay attention too your GPS as some of the footpaths are not clearly marked.
