Lovely cross country route using a mix of footpaths, bridleways, lanes, and short sections of road walking (with verges).
I walked from North Tawton to Hatherleigh, and the first 2 miles were on footpaths following the Devonshire Heartland Way, and it was hilly! Nice views from the high ground though.
There were quite long sections on lanes, but they were very quiet, and I enjoyed them. The parts walking alongside roads were safe enough as there were verges, but not the most fun. Luckily each part was short.
The last part of the route approaching Hatherleigh from Hatherleigh Moor was a highlight. It was a murky day when I walked, but the views were amazing, and would be even better on a clear day.
There is a pub in Exbourne, but other than that no facilities apart from at either end. Good walk.
