Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

27 Jun 2023The route is a fantastic winding way. Waking it mid summer it was dry and clear. Some parts are steep and stepped, and there are some stiles.
There’s only three places where there is minor deviations from the route, and easy to figure out.
1. At Tuesley there’s a new housing development where the path must have run before but you just carry on down the track and turn left around the edge of it.
2. At Brook the path turns off the main road to the right after the farm, whereas the map makes it look like it goes through the farm. You just walk along and through a gate up the bank.
3. About 4km from haslemere it gets a little confusing in the woods as you go along the railway track. I climbed over a gate and then at the other end realised another gate said it was a private track. Not sure what the correct route was.

20 Feb 2023I walked Haslemere to Godalming. This is a very good route overall but … there is still an access problem, this time at Brook. I’ve made version Three which corrects the problem and makes a couple of improvement tweaks as well - recommend Hasgod Three!
Photo shows where the route at Brook tries to go through someone’s garage and garden!.

29 Sep 2022Lovely route taking you through some of Surrey's beautiful countryside, once you've left the 'bustle' of Godalming behind. No real challenges though there are some steep inclines in places which could make it challenging for all to access, along with numerous styles and gates. There are some bits towards Haslemere where it can get a bit moist, meaning underfoot may be a bit slippy in different seasons.
On the way keep an eye out for some gates and posts with a 'star' mark on it, these were the emblems of the 'White Star' estate (owners of the Titanic) which was across this area.
Unlike Hasgod one this route doesn't have you walking across private land which I feel is a win and saves any challenge, despite the owners being incredibly pleasant and understanding when they pointed out that this was the case.
Numerous footpaths allow for slight variations on the route but this is a solid link from Godalming to Haslemere that is pleasant, not too taxing for walkers (IMO) and has train stations at both ends. A lovely ramble.
