Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

07 May 2021A pleasant route alongside the river Stort. As another reviewer has mentioned the start is misleading. I suggest taking the road from the station to the A414 roundabout and turning right follow the footway alongside the A414 and over the rail bridge and almost immediately after there is an unsigned footpath through a wood that leads down to the river. The path up to Harlow Mill is gravelled and well maintained but beyond its a typical rough track that can be muddy in the wet and on occasion sections can become waterlogged. There are a selection of eateries at the Maltings at the end of the route.

24 Apr 2021Lovely riverside path, which is easy to follow and seems accessible to most users (not checked) including to bikes. You do need to make sure you cross the river at Harlow Mill or you end up having to divert away from the river, although the diversion itself is also lovely and very direct, through Pishiobury Park. The only slight blip is at the start coming out of Harlow station, the map suggests you can cross directly under/over the railway straight after the station, but in fact it seems you have to go up to the roundabout and cross via the A414 road bridge, but it's not much further at all.
