Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

12 Sep 2021The route makes for a pleasant walk along a disused railway rack then through farmland before entering Knaresborough on the main A59 until the River Nidd is reached. It then follows other routes into Knaresborough. The following notes apply:
1. The route is exactly the same as HARKNA5 until reaching Bilton Hall Drive.
2. The route described in HARKNA5 may be shortened after harvest by following the public right of way over the large field between the disused railway and Longlands rather than walking all the way round the edge of it. The gpx for the current route assumes that you will walk across the field.
3. The path from Bilton Hall Drive follows the side of allotments and is in a reasonable state of repair.
4. Not long after the end of the allotments the official public right of way veers slightly right then crosses a field of cows to reach the A59 by a small farm. Parts of this section can be very overgrown. The gpx is for this route.
5. The path most people use does not veer right but continues along the side of a field before descending into woodland on the right. It is, however, neither a public right of way or permissive path
6. Once in the wood it becomes a public right of way again. The woodland is known as Mackintosh Park.
7. The path through the woodland meets to Beryl Burton cycleway and goes into Knaresborough (route HARKNA5).
