Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

08 May 2021 (edited 27 Jun 2023)Starting from the Harwich Ferry end in Felixstowe, the line drawn is not available on the ground. It needs to follow the concrete path southwards from the ferry landing point. This curves round the outside of Landguard Fort and through the Nature Reserve.
The next part of the drawn line is good, following the surfaced path to Manor Terrace car park, and then along Manor Terrace between 2 caravan parks.
From the end of the caravan park, the rest of the drawn line is mostly rubbish and impossible to walk.
Do not follow the line, but turn right onto the unmade track, and left just before the sea wall, onto the surfaced pathway through Martello Park. At the end of the park, by Orwell Road, turn right onto the prom and follow the prom all the way along, past the pier to the bottom of Bent Hill.
Turn up Bent Hill and then go straight up Hamilton Road to Station Square and finish by turning left and passing through the old station buildings shopping area and car park. Most of this route from the prom is pedestrianised.
