09 Mar 2023A thoroughly delightful route through woodlands and beautiful (unaffordable) homes. Great for an autumnal and spring run.

02 Jan 2022I walked from Wood Green to Hampstead. After the busy High Street (coffee, snacks!) you are quickly into a small park then up to Alexandra Park Station and across a bridge leading to Alexandra Park with views of London and the Palace. Through an avenue of trees, past a café in The Grove to passageways and into a Parkland walk with more views of London. The entrances and exit to Highgate Woods are not wheelchair friendly. Paths are uneven but not too muddy. There is a short section of residential walking through Highgate. The entrance to Hampstead Heath was not where shown, as previously mentioned in Dannyash's review, but I found one not too far away (see photo). It was January and wet so some paths were very muddy and slippery, mostly good paths though. I took a short detour to the top of Parliament Hill for the views.
From Wood Green the first 2Km of the walk is uphill then undulating and steep in places (18%). A beautiful mostly green walk with great views.

20 Jul 2021An excellent route with accessible nature and adventure. Despite it's length, roughly 80% of this route is through natural paths, parks, and forest in contrast to many that need to use mostly sidewalks.
I began at the Hampstead Heath Overground station. Exiting Hampstead Heath proved tricky, and ultimately I was unable to find the exact spot indicated on this map. Also, later on in the journey, I found that the selected route through Alexandra Park was closed due to apparent construction. I took a larger path to the right which ran parallel and to the same exit point.
Lots of views, nature, and benches along the way. Worth the walk.

05 May 2021This is a pleasant walk. Not suitable for walking at dusk/night due to some remote and uneven paths with no lighting, especially on Hampstead Heath. Need to pay attention to take the correct paths on the Heath to enter and exit at the right place.

24 Apr 2021A great route within London and likely one of the most green and 'rural' feeling. For most of the walk you are on paths and in woods but also never far from places to get food or make a quick pit stop. It also has great views over London from multiple points. As it goes through Alexander Palace, Highgate Woods and Hampstead Heath you can also extend the walk as much as you like by following other paths. We took advantage of this in the woods and on the heath to find some quieter paths.
One thing to note is that we could not find the path that goes through or to the side of Athlone Gardens. It might be because the house is closed at the moment. We had to go to the other side of the house and enter the Heath a little further down Hampstead Lane.
Overall a great walk which we did as WOOHAM rather than HAMWOO.
