06 Jul 2026Loved the combo of Hadrian’s Wall and Penine Way. A real mix of experiences and views. I did it in one day and it was a stretch but very much worth it. There are areas of bog and one or two fords on the Penine Way which could be challenging or worse in eg winter. Walked as part of the National Parks Challenge 2026.

17 Jun 2025I walked this route from Halwhistle with an overnight camp at Whinshields beside Hadrian's Wall. This is a challenging but spectacular walk showing the beauty of Northumberland and it's National Park. Once you reach the wall you can follow the excellent waymarking on the National Trail. There is a variety of terrain and trail from steep climbs to rolling pasture, from bits of road to bits of bog. If you can walk this I would certainly recommend it. I have given it three stars only because of the final stretch into Bellingham which uses the road rather than following the Pennine Way trail.
