Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

14 Feb 2025Walked this in February starting at Hadleigh. Most of this route outside Ipswich I'd give 5 stars if it was the summer! A couple of things spoilt it, the first I hope is temporary as an access track has been built near Valley farm across the footpath that was an unavoidable mud bath. Secondly, I believe there has to be a better way into Ipswich using Church Lane at Sproughton then through Chantry & Gippeswyk park. Currently, using the towpath of the river Gipping is an industrial area and at times felt unsafe (narrow, poorly maintained, closed-in or vandalised).
On the positive side, Hadleigh is a picturesque Suffolk town with lots of independent shops, cafes and old buildings. The route outside the town is mostly around farmland to Hintlesham where it passes through the grounds and golf course of the beautiful old Hall. The George pub at Hintlesham has a nice homecooked british food menu and a good selection of ales.
