Description
Heads west on Newton Road before crossing Red House Park. Picks up pavement of Chapel Lane and uses crossing across Walsall Road. Carries along the lane through the village beyond which is a short section of lane walking. There is a give way system for cars so they are slowed and considerate. Not long after joining the Beacon Way there is a footpath which runs parallel to the lane. At the turn in the road, the dirt track footpath starts on the other side and is more distinct from the road. At the top of the lane there is a 40mph road which needs crossing with care. Once you have crossed, it's only a few metres from the Beacon Way footpath which moves away from the road. A short walk through woods along dirt tracks brings you out at Beacon Road which again needs crossing with care. The route then follows the Beacon Way along the road and car park to enjoy the best views in all directions from Barr Beacon. Having passed the reservoir the route leaves the Beacon Way and moves along the dirt track towards Foley Road West. It's pavement all the way from there and you pass the pub, the Foley Arms as a possible stop. Having turned right into Blackwood Road you pass a parade of shops and then follow the road to the end. A turn left at the end onto Bridle Lane is a short walk from the meeting point outside the Tesco Express

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.
