Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

29 May 2024Overall a nice route with a lot of bridleways (although some were muddy). There are no steps but at time the terrain is quite rough, although given this is Essex not steep. Some of the routing is a bit questionable- this is 'slow ways' but there would have times when it would have been quicker to have taken a more direct path. For example rather than going to Clatterford near the start, it is quicker to take the more direct route that runs almost directly north from where you join Mashbury road. Note that the long straight line from Roxwell road up to Mashbury road near the start of the route isn't a straight path at all.
The main issue is that at several points farmers had planted crops which eithier covered the intended path or the path was not obvious at all (and we had an OS map on the app so we were very clear about where the path should have been).
